Another sophomore release but this time from the Edinburgh based outfit, Hidden Orchestra. Since their debut release, they have seen their popularity grown steadily, with an organic buzz that developed due to their almost non-stop tour through over 20 countries, as well as supporting for the likes of Bonobo. Hidden Orchestra’s 2010 debut release, ‘Night Walks’ proved to be a work of intricate layers of sound, jazz/funk improve and cinematic orchestral moods fueled with laid back beats – emotive and energetic.
‘Archipelago’, out 1st October on Tru Thoughts Records, remains on a similar trajectory as ‘Night Walks’ as it explores and cultivates some of the topics and ideas that surfaces on their debut – increasing their wealth of sound with guest musicians and other wonderful samples they captured, including bagpipe drones and stomping in snow and ice.
