During the tail end of last year I discovered the Hidden Orchestra - an Electronic Jazz collective based in Edinburgh. They combine two live drummers, organic samples and dubby basslines to make cinematic, emotive, percussive music. Their sound, resplendent with layers of intense soundscapes, takes audiences on a deep and truly original sonic journey containing elements of jazz, classical, drum’n’bass, rock and hip hop, moulded into a coherent whole.

Hidden Orchestra will be delivering their bass heavy, brooding and beautiful sounds at XOYO, Old Street on 6th May 2012.

Joining them will be Mt. Wolf and NADA BRAHMA friends, Polaroid 85 a seven piece orchestral electronic band whose sound is often compared with Bonobo, Portishead and Zero 7. Playing chilled dance music with elements of classical, folk and soul music. When I saw the gig poster, I was mad excited for the guys. They’ve worked incredibly hard on their material and are really pushing themselves with their sound.

I was so impressed with the latest track co-written by lead lady Neeta Sarl, this is ‘Fix’ … amazing sultry feel to this track.
