Our collaborative partners, INDIEARTH have launched a fresh new series – IndiEarth Out There – showcasing an eclectic line up of independent, non-mainstream musicians, in their element – or rather out in the elements.
The series has been filmed in a variety of outdoor locations, in local reaches of the city, and also features the artists in conversation speaking about their inspirations, music and dreams. The sound exploration will take us through India, to the different corners of the country. Season One explores diverse soundscapes of India, from the experimental to traditional folk, indie rock to Carnatic classical.
The journey of the series begins in Chennai with a D.I.Y four piece indie rock band known as ‘The Shakey Rays’. An outfit that combines the ancient traditions of Rhythm ‘n’ Blues and swing with the aggressive energy and attitude of Garage Rock and Punk. The lads perform one of the most melodic tracks from their debut album which is incredibly bluesy and reminiscent of something Stealer Wheels would be busting out … totally loving the retro vibe they’re going for.
